Welcome to the History Page |
At a rabbit show in South Bend Indiana in September 2002 a few exhibitors of Polish rabbits got to talking and were excited with the amount of rabbits and exhibitors at this show. They passed around a sign up sheet if interested in forming an "Indiana" state rabbit club.
The fun of all the legalese fell on the person with most "club" expierience and that was Pat Glenn of Mishawaka Indiana. Pat worked a long time looking at other clubs' constitution and by-laws and with feed back from potential members she helped to form what i consider the fairest c&b's ever produced. Seeing how she was doing all the work, Pat was selected as the clubs first President.
The time for the first charter was nearing and Pat selected the following as her executive committee. Janice Moore of South Bend Indiana as Vice President, Bobby George of Fremont Indiana as Secretary/Treasurer, Brendan Moore of South Bend and Lynne Siemon of Niles Michigan were chosen as the first Directors of the Club, Mary Siemon also of Niles Michigan was selected as the first Youth director of the Club, and Terry Gardner of South Whitley Indiana was selected as the ISRBA Representative to the club.
Now, Pat meeting with these people and in contacting ARBA found we could be something more than a state club, we could become a regional specialty club with no defined borders or boundaries. This group of people also wanted to give each member the same rights no matter where they lived and that was a main decision.
In less than their first year the club hit the century mark with membership, and seemed to have a large representation of membership in the national clubs sweepstake points!
"........ because in a hundred years maybe it will matter"
